Morning Star
The Greek word phōsphoros literally
means a light bearer. Some scholars think the reference is to the planet Venus.
In any case, the morning star is the brightest star and heralds the light of
day. Peter’s prophetic exhortation spoke of Jesus’ return.
Morning Star in Greek:
Ho phōsphoros
Strong’s Concordance number: 5459
Bible reference: 2 Pet. 1:19
We also have the prophetic message as something
completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light
shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your
hearts. (2
Peter 1:19 NIV)
The KJV uses the title Day star.
A similar sounding name of Jesus (Yeshua‘)
is the bright morning star, but the Greek is quite different.
